Deadliest Catch On The Discovery Channel

I really like this show, but why does the Discovery channel replay it so much?! Every day this week (and last week) they have been replaying the show over and over. I like the show but Im getting tired of seeing it everyday.

I think its a great show too. I dont know why they show it so much, but I kinda like it because when I'm watching someting else I get very impatient during commericals so its a very good commerical fill-in show. Deadliest Catch (along with Ice Road Truckers) are the only shows that I watch on a regular basis.

I agree but they can play it in the off season. It does get boring after a while when your favorite boat doesn't appear on all the episodes.

That and this season particularly it seemed the crews where doing a lot more stunts just for the camera then in years past.

I think the show is past it's prime.

Haha this is exactly what I do with Deadliest Catch. I have noticed that it has been on a lot more than normal as of late I think because the season is coming to an end. It is a very entertaining show.

Yeah, If I were to be on a boat I think I'd want to be on the Northwestern with Sig Hansen. He reminds me of an old freigh pilot who poured himself a cup of coffee as he was coming down the glideslope on the ILS approach.

There hasn't been a crab boat go down in the last 3 years.

Too bad they wheren't on the Maverick this year, they could have film capt Rick getting busted for illegal fishing....He was keeping undersized crab.

As someone else said, season finale was this week and they like to play the entire season so you can catch up on any missed episodes going into the last one so you weren't like me saying "WTF...why is Phil in the hospital?"

You can say the same for many of the shows on the Discovery Channel. A lot of it is really entertaining.

Well, I think that the Discovery Channel's programming is geared towards informative and entertaining shows that have something to do with the natural world. A couple of years ago they made a concerted effort to move the totally off-topic shows, like "Monster Garage", onto other channels they own (like TLC).

"Deadliest Catch" is my favorite show on television, and I have to say that over the past few years, I have learned a lot about the Bering Sea ecology, boat operations, and fisheries management.

I've also found "Mythbusters" to be informative without going off the Discovery Channel reservation, as it were.

Ouch! That had to hurt his pocket book. I sort of wonder how Discovery chooses which boats to feature each year. It seems like the Northwestern is a foregone conclusion given that Captain Hansen is the technical advisor for the show. The Cornelia Marie and Time Bandit seem to have been featured a good bit, but otherwise I wonder how they choose the others. I remember the Rollo from Season 2, but don't think it's been featured since. I'm getting a bit weary of Captain Keith and the crew on the Wizard. Between Keith and his brother constantly bickering and the whiniest greenhorn ever (Moi) you have to wonder how they caught ANY crab this season. Also, any of you Alaskans know what befell Captain Rick on the Early Dawn? I don't think she was featured for opilio season and remember that the greenhorn who was the owner's son had succeeded in getting his dad to lease out the last 70,000 pounds of his quota because Rick just wasn't on the crab but what happened after that?

Thats my favorite Captain; Rick Fehst. It was 75,000 lbs of King and he did catch 1,750,000 of Opillio crab in the winter. So he must be doing something right and his knowledge of the weather is some of the best besides Sig Hansen of the Northwestern.

On the next to last episode of the season Captain Keith and Monte were arguing and Keith said to him "For the rest of this trip you no longer have the privilege of being my brother, you are now just a part of the crew" I didn't know what to think after he said that.
